Okay so I have made compositions in pattern mode on motif es. I have a mac g5 running os 10.4. Now I guess I should get Cubase 5 to transfer and record my compositions on my computer, right?I have protools with a digi 002 but recording from the motif sucks as they do not synch and I end up recording audio tracks one by one with no midi, therefore, causing me to align each track with one another in protools. So I am thinking cubase would be easier and cubase syncs with the motif right? Is there a guide to walk me through this. I have searched and cannot find anything. |

There are a lot reason we can think of as to WHY you should use Cubase 5 instead, but getting the Motif ES to sync with Pro Tools should not stop you from using your current DAW. All that stuff on their website about not working with Yamaha drivers is a bunch baloney, we are not sure why they have that kind of misleading information posted on their site (not very “pro” if it cannot send sync and be a control clock for external synthesizers). Of course, it can. Why they don’t want to tell you how is a mystery to us. Yes Cubase 5 can do this, but so can most any DAW software on the planet. We just wanted you to know. Yes we can help you to get up and running with your Motif ES and synchronizing it with any external DAW. How do you have your Motif ES connected to your computer? |

It will be connected using an Uno midi device, one side has the midi in and out and the other has a usb jack. However if this will not work I could use the tradtional two midi cables from the motif into protools. |

Set your Motif ES to MIDI IN/OUT = MIDI
Set your Motif ES to slave to MIDI clock sync
This will set the Motif ES to slave to MIDI clock. Now you must send MIDI beat clock from your DAW software to Start/Stop the Motif ES sequencer. You may have to look up in your Pro Tools documentation how to activate standard MIDI beat Clock… most computer-based software (unlike hardware) default CLOCK OUT to not being sent - so you must activate it when you want to use it. (and you want to use it). Let us know |

Thankyou for replying each time. I also could run midi thru the usb cable right? Does midi from the usb cord work with both mac os 10.4 and 10.5. |
