Here is what I am trying to do. I have a ES rack and 2 keyboards. I want to use the rack with Both keyboards. Is there like a midi router with a switch that you can manaully switch from which keyboard you want to use with the ESrack? I have always just used my 2 keybaords, so never had this problem. Thanks for any feedback on this matter.
Chris

Check out the Roland US-20 which is a foot switch controller for A and B (or both) routing for midi.

Midi Solutions makes a MIDI Router… But, from what you’re describing, it shouldn’t be necessary.

You could probably just set the two keyboards to separate output channels and use MULTI’s on the ES Rack…

Hi Tony,
Could you explain more about this and how to do it. I would still have to have some kind of a splitter to go into the ES rack and out from both keys seperately. For instance,I am trying to use some sounds out of my Alesis 8.1, my bottom keyboard with the ES and some sounds with my Korg Triton Extreme, my top keyboard. With the ES only having 1 input, like most keyboards, I can now either use it with 1 keyboard at a time. Whenever I switch the midi cables between keyboard, I get a midi error, so I cant do that during live performances. Thanks for your help. If I can make this happen just using the ES and the keyboards without buying a midi controller, that would be awesome.
Thanks again,
Chirs

Actually, you want a MERGER, not a SPLITTER.  This is actually a simple, but not FREE way of doing it.

A MERGER will combine the inputs from two (or more) separate OUTPUTS, multiplex them together, re-time the signal, and send the merged data out a SINGLE output.

The MIDI Solutions MIDI MERGER is perfect at this… And requires no separate power (it is powered by the MIDI device connected to port 1.)

I have a 4 to 1 MIDI Merger to witch I’ve connected:

1> My WX5
2> My M-AUDIO KSP88
3> The OUTPUT of my Yamaha VL70m

Now, if one of the KB’s can be configured to pass the IN to the OUT (as in a THRU), you could do this:

KB1 OUTPUT -> KB2 INPUT (as long as the KB is set to LOCAL, it should not respond to MIDI data on its input.)
KB2 OUTPUT -> ES RACK INPUT.  In this case, KB2 would need to be configured as described above.
