too big for only 10 waveforms. not efficient, Try this experiment, > Reducing the size to 10 mb.

1 mb per waveform. Is possible ?. To reduce the size from 150 mb, to 10 mb, and obtain the same quality ?. Less space same quality ?

Hi radurobert.
The waveforms are long to preserve the life of original DX7 voices. On E-Piano 1 for example, I preserved the original ADSR (no looping at end). For my ears, short waveform with short looping does sound too artificial.

The Brass / Strings are looped, but I preferred to keep it also long preserve the complete cycle of original waveform.

Also, consider that all the waveforms are multisampled over the keyboard range and some voices (Bass, E-Piano) are sampled with two velocity (one key actually comprises 2 samples, one pp and one ff).

Thanks and I hope you enjoy.
Julio.

Thanks. Are u shure ?.Remember Motif XS memory is only 355MB (when converted to 16-bit linear format), 2,670 waveforms. The waveforms are extremely long. Don’t fall In Auto-Suggestion

Thanks anyway!

radurobert,

Seriously? You’re criticizing FREE sounds because they are “too big”?

Have you listened the internal raw waveforms from Motif in an initialized voice without any processing?

Here is a little test. Please listen the attached audio file.
I have recorded the internal raw waveforms “DX1” and “FMBass1” from my Motif’s ROM in initialized Voice, without any processing.

It is so static and lifeless, not sounding natural to me.

2,670 waveforms is so much waves for only 355MB.

Julio.

That’s why I would love to have an advanced and user-friendly computer based Editor for the DXII/TX802.
The sounds are great, and with processing in e.g. the MotifXS,newly created voices on the DX could be very interesting to play around with.
But I don’t have time to become a programming wizard for just that one task of creating an Editor.
I’m supposed to concentrate on music.
Thanks for letting us try out those samples!

Julio,

Thank you for making those samples available for all of us!  The sounds are so reminiscent of the GDS that I’m tempted to get it out of the garage and see if I can get it running again.

There is an inexpensive alternative I am using with an excellent editor/librarian program for generating the DX sounds. In this forum, veiw the thread titled “dx7 sounds”. There is some good info here that might be helpful to those interested.

Twinton,
I have more multisampled materials that I took from other voices of DX7 II. I will make a second part of this library and post here as soon as possible.

flyby,
Here is the new link ( rar password is jcr ):
