I layered some voices in performance mode. It’s saved under user 005. When I go to multi mode to record a project with Sonar 8. I can’t seem to find my saved voice. When I load voices in Multi Mode and select the Combination category. It’s skips user 005. I get 1,3,4 and 6. When I try saving this layered voice, the only option I get is the user number to save it under and what name to put in. In Sonar I create a midi track(number one) Go to multi mode on the Motif Rack es and go to channel one, find a sound I like and start recording but I can’t find the sounds I layered and further more, i noticed I’m missing out on alot of great sounds from performance more that multi mode won’t load up. Please help. I read manual that covers this part like 5 times and I didn’t find the answer. |

I’m a little confused (as I suppose you are too) but what confuses me is you say that you layered some Voices in a PERFORMANCE and you “STORED” it in USER PERFORMANCE 005. OK but (not ‘saved’ you “stored” it to a PERFORMANCE) Next you say you go to MULTI mode and you can’t find your stored “Voice"… well, didn’t you just tell us you created a PERFORMANCE… VOICE does not equal PERFORMANCE A PERFORMANCE is made up of up to four VOICES - each VOICE is placed in a “PART”. A MULTI is made up of up to sixteen VOICES - each VOICE is placed in a “PART”. Therefore, it follows that… to place your PERFORMANCE in a MULTI - it will take up as many PARTS (to a maximum of four) that you used. If you created a two-way layer in PERFORMANCE mode, it will use 2 PARTS of the MULTI, ie, PARTS 1 and 2.
If you created a three-way layer in PERFORMANCE, when you copy it to the MULTI it will occupy 3 PARTS; PARTS 1, 2 and 3
(Basically, you are playing each of the Voices by placing them on the same MIDI channel) You have to COPY a PERFORMANCE into the MULTI. Here’s how: COPY A PERFORMANCE into a MULTI This will allow you to copy all the settings you made to the PERFORMANCE so that you can play its multiple PARTS via a single MIDI channel. Make sense? If you get stuck post back here. |

First of all, thank you for your responds. It’s driving me nutts cause im a new user and I noticed performace mode has sounds that multi mode does not and when I record in Sonar 8, Multi mode is the only way I can record on seperate tracks. Now as far as Save, store. I don’t know, I pressed the “store” button and it saved the 4 part layered sound in performance mode in user 005. So im not sure the correct term as far as that goes. I do understand that voice does not equal performance...that’s why I posted this cause im trying to get the performance sound “into” Multi mode. I read the link you gave me and as soon as I get home. I’m going to try this. Before I do, I just have one more question for you. The sounds I layered in Performance mode consist of 4 instruments. Multi mode has 16 different tracks or parts, I’m not sure what they are called exactly. Let’s say I’m in multi mode and in track 1, I decide to press catagory and pick a sound, like guitar “I got that part down”. If I follow the link you gave me. Will I be able to load up the 4 part layered sound I copied from performance mode into multi mode? Will that 4 part layered sound be in track 1? or will it take up 4 tracks in multi mode? Please bare with me.lol |

You and some other guy on a different thread explained this in a way that was easy to understand. The manual got me all mixed up. Well, I’m home from work and I did exactly what you said and all I have to say is. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! It worked. It of course took up 4 tracks in multi but no worries. I still have 12 tracks to work with. Thanks Doc |
