Hi, im still learning how to use my mo8 and had a question, i am building a song in pattern mode, well im building the pattern anyway! but my problem is that , when i add a sound to the pattern, they dont sound like they do in the voice mode, this is because the effects used on the sound in pattern mode, appear to be missing, so the sounds are flat rather than how i want them. if this just the way it is on the mo8 or am i missing something? what im trying to achieve is for each track i record to take on the effects that i would be on it if i was playing them in voice mode. is this possible, or am i going to have to record my tracks to a computer in order for this to work? Id like to utilize the pattern and song modes but if i cant get the effects and appegios into those modes then they seem somewhat redundant, so im thinking im missing something. thanks for your help |

There are 3 insert FX available on the mo. Yes the voices sound better in voice mode. What I sometimes do is record the voices as audio in voice mode in cubase, track by track so every track is in voice mode. For the best quality. Pattern voices are decent enough for some things. |

I know what you mean… but I really think you can get the voices in pattern mode to sound the same as voice mode. It is true that there are only 3 insert effects available on the MO at one time. This is one of the limitations of the board, but it doesn’t mean you can’t work with pattern mode. In pattern mode tracks 1,2,3 have the insert effect turned on by default. I think that as long as you use a track with the insert effect turned on, the voice in pattern mode should sound the same as in voice mode. There may be some settings you need to adjust, such as reverb, and perhaps the voice output level. I have found that there are some voices which NEED the insert effect (electric guitars with distortion is a good example) and others that may not need it as much (like piano, IMO). As you are creating your pattern you just need to be judicious with your resources. Otherwise, this article might be helpful - Introducing MO EFFECTS check out the other articles in the MO6/8 support section too… all good stuff |

Thanks for the info, i decided to just record it straight into the computer, i did try cubase that came with the synth, for some odd reason it came with cubase LE 1.0 which isnt acting nicely on Macosx, since i bought it not that long ago, i would have thought it would have come with v4? hmm |
