Does anyone know where i can order a spare power adapter for the Motif Rack ES?

Is it available anywhere online?

I found something similar on Ebay, but it is 16V instead of 19V, which is the specs for the Motif ES Rack.

Ebay - AC Power Adapter For Yamaha MOTIF

Would this power supply work with the Rack ES, or is there any chance that it could damage the ES rack?

Thanks

It cost $38 as opposed to $90 (Plus S&H;) for the Yamaha PA300 adapter:

I need a spare to keep in our practice room, so that I dont have to lug around the original power adapter from my studio to our practice room.  We practice once a week for 3-4 hrs only..

Any advice?

Looks like I got screwed.  I bought this ES rack used off Ebay a while back and it did NOT come with the original adapter.

Does anyone happen to know which power adapter is required for the Rack ES?  is it PA-300 or PA301?

The manual says PA300, PA300B or PA301, but I highly doubt all three are the same.  While all three may work with the rack, but it can do damage in the long term.

Also, where can i buy the original power adapter?

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you very much for the links.  I wish the power supply was built into the rack.  It would be have saved so much headaches like these.

Yikes, a power supply that cost over $100 with S&H;.  Gotta be kidding me!

Anyways, i was able to grab an original Yamaha power supply off ebay..for slightly less.

Thanks for looking into it.

Regards.

The decision to use the brick-in-the-middle type external power supply (similar to one you would find on a laptop computer… lose one of those and check out what it costs)… was make sure that the price of the Rack unit could be kept musician-friendly.

By having a universal power supply like the PA300 Yamaha can make just one Motif-Rack ES and ship it worldwide… The PA300 has a detachable cord and plug which can be shipped where necessary. The appropriate connector for 110V-120V (USA), 220-240V (Europe), and 100V (Japan) can easily be included in units going to those markets (rather than building units that are surrounded by totally different internal power supplies.

Trust me, if the power supply was internal, the price of the Motif-Rack ES would be higher, the unit would be at least two rack spaces, and some markets of the world would probably never have seen any. That is just the way it is in today’s music economy.

Just FYI…

Yeah.  I was impressed with the universal power adapter. I haven’t seen any other power adapters that you can take world wide.

I dont understand why the price would jump.  The power supply came included with the Rack.  All I was asking that it somehow be included in the box rather than external where it can be damaged or lost easily.

Maybe, it would not have been possible with the ES version, but with the XS, i can definitely see how it can be squeezed in since the XS does not have any PLUGIN board slots.

The world is getting smaller and smaller and so is everything else.  If Apple can come up with a Macbook Air, I am sure Yamaha can come up with the Motif Nano Rack someday.
