There is no limt to the size of the memory device that we know of.  We have used 150 GB hard disks and 16 GB flash thumb drives with no problems.

USB Hard disk are getting very inexpensive and large.  It’s one of the advantages of using a standard protocol like USB for storage.

I am using an 8GB Cruzer thumb drive, which brings a quick note to this subject. Like Yamaha US said above, just about all USB thumb drives and external USB hard drives will work, just make sure that your thumb drive doesn’t come with any built in software like in the case of my Sandisk 8GB Cruzer.
The Sandisk Cruzer comes with “U3” software, it is basically an auto launch application to help you organize your files and it automatically launch when inserted, this however wont be recognized by the Motif XS. The solution is simple, just go to the Sandisk website and look for the “U3 removal tool” or Google it as well…
I am not aware of other brands of thumb drives with auto launch features but since I appreciate the reliability of Sandisk products I been using this flash/thumb drives since they first came out with great results and reliability, so I figured i comment on this…
Whatever brand you decide on just make sure to remove any auto launch features prior to inserting it in the Motif XS, I actually have my thumb drives formatted by the XS after removing the auto launch feature from them, and all working good…

Jose.

Hi Jose - totally agree with all you say.

Just want to add that the U3 files might be held in a hidden partition on some drives as, despite formatting several of them, we have found that the U3 files are sometimes recreated.

They seem to cause no problem (presumably) because the XS would not be able to execute an Intel x86 binary anyway.

Just my 2 pence (cents) worth.

Regards,

B

.....and only recently, Canon assured the world that its products were GM free.

Well.. I have a WD Elements 400gb attached to my XS6. So far, I do not think I need more space than that. :P
