New problem.

I’m playing in a coverband and would like to practice my music by using midifiles.

My problem: when playing back a midifile my Motif is not playing the correct voices.

After going into category search, selecting the correct voice and storing the song the voice will change to the old one on playback.

I understand that somewhere in the song is a programchange.

What should be done to eliminate the programchange or is it possible to indicate that the midifilke shoud only use Motif voices as indicated.

If you understand that there are PROGRAM CHANGES in the data, then you understand why the Motif XS is changing Voices

You can:
1) Remove the Program Changes (local)
2) Tell your Motif XS to ignore Program Changes (global)

Remove Program Changes: Local to the current SONG
Press [JOB]
Press [F3] EVENT
Select JOB 03: ERASE EVENT
Press [ENTER]
Set the dialog box so that:
TRACK = ALL,
Set the Measure range 001:1:000 ~ 999:1:000
Set the EVENT TYPE = PROGRAM CHANGE

Press [ENTER] to execute

Tell your Motif XS to ignore Program Changes Global for the entire Motif XS.
Press [UTILITY]
Press [F5] CONTROL
Press [SF2] MIDI
Set Bank Select = OFF
Set Program Change = OFF

The “local” fix is probably better because at some point later you will/may want Program Changes.

A third option would be to edit the MIDI File so that it selects the Motif XS Voices you want it to select. For that you would need to edit every PC event in the MIDI File.
