I know this might not seem that important but i was recently browsing the internet at a couple of retail site and notice that the motif xs6 has went up in price. Now i am just wondering considering what’s going on in most of the US, why would these companies raise the price of the motif xs? or why would yamaha increase the price when great boards like the Korg M3 is going for dang near 700 less? |

A few suggestions: -
World economic crisis
Also Korg was (perhaps still is) owned by its management since it bought out Yamaha’s shares years ago. Perhaps that allows them to take a different stance - I don’t know. Presumably, selling much below the now increased prices is simply not feasible and Yamaha are hardly going to sell the XS as a ‘loss leader’ now are they? :) Nonetheless, as William Shakespeare himself was wont to say: “What a bummer !!” B btw.....what on earth is a ‘’dang” ? |

“Dang” is a slang word used to replace the other dirty four letter word that starts with “D”.....ZR |

Hi ZR Thanks for taking the trouble to answer so trivial a question. I must be rather naive. Do you mean ‘Damned’ ? Is that considered unacceptable over there? With every kid saying this ‘sucks’ and that ‘sucks’ (we all know where that one comes from), it seems incredible that something as benign as ‘damned’ is replaced. Perhaps it’s a hangover from a bygone era when any swearing was unacceptable. Or perhaps it is the religious connotations of the word - proof that the good ol’ Moral Majority has a bigger say on your side of the pond than over here? Anyway - good of you to reply. Regards B |

not true, nothing was increased - if you want to buy it prices are same or lower. Listed prices mean nothing. This is a buyer market. |

This was planned to recover from sharp drop in sales for keyboards last year. It will have some effect on the final price you get because retailers are not getting quite the same deals. You were able to get an XS real cheap the last couple months. Now you won’t get quite as low a deal. This may change if sales continue to slump. |

first off.. yeah i didn’t want to cuss, but damn it i might have to. Anyways i do understand that you could still talk the retailers down, but it might be hard nowadays. Where do you guys think the future of keyboard are going to go? With computer synths like Ominsphere, Ni and the openlabs product., not sure if we’re going to see motifs anymore. unless they start doing softwear bundle (unlike the cubase) with their sounds that can be used on any program. Maybe i should repost this part. |

Unless they can box all that @ the $2000 range for a complete system and still keep it portable, I think workstations will be around for awhile yet...I should mention I HATE working on music in a PC...Things flow much faster within the XS and it’s much more stable at higher track counts than I ever got in a PC...I still use a PC for tracking, mixdown, mastering, burning but songwriting is all at the XS level....ZR |
