The Motif runs a version of Linux. Perhaps, either this Motif with a software update, or a future Motif, could use the freely available VNC system to send an image of the Motif’s display to a PC running a VNC client? VNC clients are available for free that run on Windows, Mac, and Linux. The VNC clients could easily communicate with the Motif over the Motif’s existing network connection. This would allow a Motif owner to use any size monitor that they chose without requiring any hardware changes to the Motif. Also, VNC will send keyboard activity from the PC to the VNC server (Motif), so you could potentially use your computer’s keyboard instead of a keyboard directly connected to the Motif. This type of VNC approach might even be more useful with the XS Rack. |

HI Bsmart, I hardly ever reply to posts on this forum although I read just about all of the threads. However, I just had to mention that I think you have one great idea regarding the potential use of VNC. Doesn’t seem like it would be that difficult to implement and could have numerous potential benefits. Great idea. I hope Yamaha is at least considering some options to use an external monitor with the XS. While the color LCD screen is very nice, the viewing angle is not good when sitting down at a normal bench height with any type of overhead lighting. Say what you will, but it is hard on the eyes. I had a MO6 before the XS and with its simple monochrome display, I could read it much easier. Just my thoughts. Stephen |
