I can not upload my avatar.
It is 96 x 99, png format.
I get an error message that I am using a format what is not allowed.
What is wrong?

I I guess it won’t let you upload png files with uppercase extensions like:
trifid 04.PNG
I changed the extension to .png and it worked fine

I’ll try to track that down. Did you file a bug report or should I do it?

The size doesn’t matter, 120x100 works fine.
I suggest to only upload .jpg files: smaller and uniformly accepted.

Well we do equally allow png, jpg, and gif formats, so any of those is fine, it was just choking on the mime-type association.

You’re right height and width dimensions won’t matter as it will be automatically resized if over 100px.

On that note… png is fully supported here and across all modern browsers - the only issue I know of is png’s transparency not working in old IE (IE6 or before). Hopefully anyone here would have upgraded by now, being users of current technology as the web is always changing and ancient browsers are not and still bug and security hole ridden.

If you are on Windows and still using IE6, I highly recommend trying Firefox, as not only will everything likely be faster and definitely more secure, but you will have access to many features that can make browsing the web that much easier and more enjoyable.

On a Mac, Safari and Firefox are both great browsers.

I suppose that’s enough for this weeks lecture ;)

Here ys go Trifidmaster, I converted your picture from png to jpg, right click on it and save it and then give it a shot again…
On a quick note, I was making a silly mistake when I first was uploading my avatar, I was clicking on the “Edit photo” which is for the profile photo and I completely missed the “Edit avatar” link, once I realized this and edited avatar my uploaded pic showed fine, thought I mention it just in case…
PS hmmm, the picture is not showing in the “preview”, hope it shows in the final post…
Jose.

I uploaded my picture in .png format (100x100) without problems.
