Hello,

I am using an application on my computer to live quantize notes played through the Motif XS. This is the process:
1. I route the MIDI out from the Motif XS to MIDI IN on my computer.
2. The computer performs whatever processing I need.
3. I route the MIDI OUT on my computer to the MIDI IN of the Motif XS, where it plays the note.

The problem with this is that I get double the notes playing:
* Audio triggered from direct input on the keyboard
* Audio triggered from MIDI IN on the Motif XS

Is it possible on the Motif XS to mute audio triggered from direct input on the keyboard, and only play audio triggered from MIDI IN on the Motif XS?

Thank you!

Hi,

Yes, this can be done by changing a single setting on your Motif. The parameter you’re looking for is called Local Control (refer to p. 269 in the manual). Disable it to break the connection between the keyboard and the internal tone generator. When disabled, note data generated by the keyboard are only sent out via MIDI, and only the note data received via MIDI will be played by the tone generator.

Best regards,

Thanks! That is exactly the setting I was looking for. Works like a charm.
