Hello, I’m working with a Motif XS6.  I’m still having trouble getting my midi files to play, with their original sounds, on a computer.  I’ve read the manual plenty, if I could get any help it’s appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

What you’re asking about would require the computer to have the equivalent of the XS sound generator, effects, etc. - basically an XS soft synth. Nothing like that is available.

For MIDI files, the best you can do is to create your songs using the General MIDI (GM) bank of the XS and save a Standard MIDI File (SMF) configured for GM. See http://www.motifator.com/index.php/support/view/a_short_tutorial_creating_proper_gm_files
Such a .MID file could be played on any computer having a compatible MIDI player, but it will use the sound set of that player, not XS sounds.

If you just want anybody to be able to play your song and have it sound as it does on the XS, then consider rendering it to audio instead of MIDI. See http://www.motifator.com/index.php/support/view/how_to_make_a_wav_or_aiff_for_cd_mp3_creation
