I’d like to:
split so that bass/piano is on the MX88
from an external controller using a midi cable, play the MX88 organ (on part 3 maybe?)

I’ve seen hints this is possible, there are 16 parts from what I’ve gathered, but haven’t quite figured it out.

can anyone assist?

ok, solution isn’t that hard but it’s not obvious either.

download vycro-mx, it’s the editor that’s missing to keep costs down.

here’s the big gotcha:  can’t use MIDI and USB at the same time, so you’ll need to UNPLUG the midi cable or usb cable depending on what you’re doing… theres also a way somehow to select it in the keyboard.

in vycro-mx, push “get” to update the performance from the keyboard.

there will be 16 parts available, 1 and 2 are what’s used on the mx keyboard for splits and layers.

pick the 3rd part, select your sound.
click midi… it should already be 3.  you can change the midi channel, but remember 1 and 2 are reserved.  (you can also change to have multiple parts going to to the same channel)

save the sound.

diconnect the usb, connect the midi keyboard.
set the midi keyboard to channel 3. the sound you set in the mx88 for midi channel 3 should play.
