I’m using my Motif XS as a midi-keyboard for triggering an external sound module (so by decoupling the internal sound module). As I use the aftertouch though, there is no gradually introduction of the added effect, but it just “jumps inâ€, even if I push gently. How can I better control the settings of the aftertouch? Is there a setting in the style of the velocity curve somewhere? Possible other option could be to use the assignable pedal to take over the aftertouch functionality, but according to the manual aftertouch is linked to a (internal) “voiceâ€. So, what should I do? |

Aftertouch (Channel Pressure) generates a type of 2-byte MIDI message:
How the external sound module responds to the message is a function of that module.
Â
There’s no way to change how the XS aftertouch functions from a physical standpoint. The module should sense the difference between soft and hard pressure, if it’s capable of doing so - perhaps there’s a setting for that. Â
Aftertouch is a physical controller, similar to Pitch Bend. When the XS is used as a controller there are no options for reassigning the function.
Â
As long as aftertouch works correctly with XS internal Voices, investigate the capability of the external module to respond to aftertouch messages. |
