Hello folks,

I’m in the market looking for a digital piano with the following requirements:
1) Should be 1500$ or less.
2) This will be a decor piece furniture for the living room… So it should simulate a clean acoustic piano in the looks dept… ie, no overhead lcd display, etc. Buttons should be on the left side subtly.
3) Should have good piano action.
4) Should be reliable.

I’m looking at Kurzweil MP10 and Yamaha YDP162. While the MP10 has amazing sounds, rhythm and more voices, the YDP has 128 voice polyphony and prob will be more reliable since it’s made by Yamaha.

Any unbiased feedback will be appreciated.

Excellent resource for digital piano reviews.

Btw, the YDP162 is one of the recommended choices; the Kurzweil MP10 is reviewed but not recommended.

Thanks bud. That’s a good review…

I know Yamaha has that great build quality. I was looking for Kurzweil MP10F (with the fatar key action) but couldn’t find one.

I went to the guitar center and tried YDP142 - it just sounded weak (maybe due to 6W speakers?) I am guessing the YDP162 will have more decibel due to 20W. I am not planning on connecting to any external device/recording etc...it will be strictly for the living room and used for decor/live play.

I haven’t tried the YDP 162 or Kurzweil MP 10 yet except watching them on youtube.

Thanks again.

There are pianos on that list ranging from $400 to $4500.

For better suggestions from the Forum, please give us a better idea of what you are looking for:  Price range, pro-or-not, etc.

I am looking for a digital piano as a present for my son. Could you, please help me choose best digital piano with weighted keys for beginner from this list https://pianowatcher.com/. Or, could you at least point out what should I pay attention to before making my final decision?
