9 Months in preparation, haha

So the Pitch Bend is not stabilizing in middle position… is noticeably off.

Has anyone had this before?

Think i can blow it out, or spray some electrical cleaner in the pot?

help…

Eric

(*yes i will deactivate it for songs that there is no PB… which isn’t too many! )

I have noticed that when i put pressure on the PB wheel… to the right… it seems to ‘center’ and comes in tune…

which leads me to believe it may be a mechanical issue… something is keeping it from full centering....

thinking about opening it up and cleaning out dust… maybe cat hairs!!

any advice would be helpful…

(the same pressure to the right even helps it get in tune when the PB wheel is all the way forward for its ‘highest’ note.)

thanks, Eric

If you’re going to open the XF, the Service Manual is useful. It can be found here…
https://elektrotanya.com/yamaha_motif_xf6_xf7_xf8.pdf/download.html
...and includes disassembly information.

Be very careful to hinge the top panel open no more than 90 degrees. If you don’t take precautions, it’s very easy for the top to accidentally open more than that, damaging interconnecting cables and possibly more.

ok, so i think its fixed…

over time, a ‘divot’ was created in the rubber.

So I slid it over, you can see that the divot missing the metal pin that comes down to center the pitch bend.

I will avoid commentary right now about how fragile it appears for an important part… but i guess it works! (mostly)

time will tell.

whew!

You can see the divot created, its to the left of the pin.

Now the pin misses the divot and its in tune then.

I DO a LOT of pitch bending…

whew
