Dear all,
Yes, I am still using my Motif 7 in addition to my Motif XS. I would like to adjust my setup and use Setlist Maker on stage.
I haven’t managed to find the correct Sys Ex for Mode Change for my Motif 7.
Could anyone please give me a hint where to find it or better even write it down. I have found several Mode Changes for XF and XS but not for the classic.
Thank you very much in advance.
rgds

These should work with the Classic Motif:
F0 43 10 6B 0A 00 01 00 F7    Voice
F0 43 10 6B 0A 00 01 01 F7    Performance
F0 43 10 6B 0A 00 01 02 F7    Pattern
F0 43 10 6B 0A 00 01 03 F7    Song
F0 43 10 6B 0A 00 01 04 F7    Master

See the Motif Data List (attached)…
(3-6-3-2) NATIVE PARAMETER CHANGE, MODE CHANGE on page 45
and MIDI PARAMETER CHANGE TABLE (MODE CHANGE) on page 47.

5pinDIN,

Thank you very much for your quick reply which is absolutely helpful.

The Mode Change works!

Could you please help me out with one issue…
I have been working in the Master Mode for years e.g. all my sounds (i.e. Voices, Performances, Songs) are referred to in the Master Mode. Instead of now programming the MSB LSB and PC for each and every sound I would prefer to switch the Motif to the Master Mode (only once typing in F0 43 10 6B 0A 00 01 04 F7 and copying it 126 times) with the relevant Program Change. Unfortunately I can’t figure out what exact Program Change message is needed for the sounds in Master Mode, e.g. I would like to choose Master C5(37) and am struggling with the exact MSB LSB and PC value. When I am in Performance Mode (63 64 xxx) or Voice Mode (e.g. 0 0 xxx) everything is clear and running smoothly.

I hope you could give me a hint.

cheers!

Heiko

Once the Motif is in any mode, it will remain there unless you send a different Mode Change message (or make a different selection at the Motif’s panel). I don’t know exactly what you’re doing, but if you access all your Voices, etc., via Master associations, then it should only be necessary to send the F0 43 10 6B 0A 00 01 04 F7 message once initially. From then on only the message to select the Master number would be required.

When I am in Performance Mode (63 64 xxx) or Voice Mode (e.g. 0 0 xxx) everything is clear and running smoothly.

Master number selection isn’t done with MSB/LSB/PC. It requires a Parameter Change SysEx message each time. (See the notes under the Bank Select table on page 46 of the Data List.)

The message to change Master number is…
F0 43 10 6B 0A 00 00 dd F7
...where dd = Master number 00-7F in hex, which is 0-127 decimal
If needed, the number conversion chart is on page 42 of the Data List. However, be aware that the Motif numbers Masters from 1-128, not 0-127 - so add 1 (one) to the numbers in the “Decimal” column of the chart when converting.

Examples…
F0 43 10 6B 0A 00 00 00 F7   selects Master A01(001)
F0 43 10 6B 0A 00 00 7F F7   selects Master H16(128)

F0 43 10 6B 0A 00 00 24 F7   selects Master C05(037)
Note that although 37 is indicated as 25 hex in the conversion chart, 24 is correct due to the 1-128 Master numbering.

Dear 5pinDIN,
again a big THANK YOU!
I got it and it works perfect. Even though I have been using the Motif for 15 years now I still learn more and more about the machine and this time some sys ex messages in particular.
I really appreciate that you took your time to help me out!
