My Name is Apu Chidiebere from Nigeria.

Presently, we are having this issue with our motif XF8. The keyboard changes voice and transpose itself at random without user acknowledgment. This has caused us so much embarrassment on stage playing a song suddenly different voice start coming out on different keys.

We have sort for helps from different medium but no one seems to know the exact cause of this issue. The last service center we contacted have said the issue is a board problem and it will cost N250,000 ($690)

But we are not quite convinced because the keyboard seems to behave well sometimes when using performance setup.

Please any help will be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

There are a few possible causes for the behavior you’ve described. One might be unstable voltage. That could be due to external power fluctuations, or problems internal to the XF8.

Another possibility is unwanted conductive paths, or intermittent connections. Unwanted conduction could be caused by something accidentally spilled on the XF8’s panel, for example. Also, exposure to very high levels of humidity, especially “salt air” at a coastal region (in particular over a prolonged period of time), can lead to conduction/connection problems.

How does the XF8 behave if it’s connected to a known-good power source while in an air conditioned location?

Just to rule it out since not stated.
Nothing else connected to MIDI or USB that could be sending program change?

Good point. Also, not using a sequence on the XF8 that might have such messages embedded?

Hi

Have you tried to reset the instrument back to the factory settings? It can be a hardware problem, but the software on this instrument is also very complex, maybe something is wrong there…

(When you perform a reset, make sure there’s no problem with your power supply)
