Hello there everyone. As you can see I’m a newcomer here, and as all newcomers are destined to ask annoying questions, I feel that I need to do my part. I’ve recently obtained a Yamaha Motif 6 synthesizer/workstation and my plan is to use it as a Master Keyboard in a digital sequencer on my PC (right now I’m working with Propellerhead’s Reason v4). Though, I’ve run into some trouble while trying to install the Yamaha USB-MIDI drivers. I’ve tried to follow the Installation Guide that came with the driver installer, but I can’t find a good solution on how to solve my problem. After connecting the Motif 6, a Windows-popup appears prompting me to install drivers for my “unknown device”. I cancel the window and start the driver setup.exe (as told in the installation guide). Everything seems to go fine until another popup tells me this: Error 25009. An additional MIDI driver cannot be installed on this computer. Please remove any unused MIDI drivers, and try again. So, I tried to remove some other drivers that I suspected might be the cause of this problem (ASIO drivers, some Line 6 drivers for my TonePort GX, ect.), but after several installation retries and reboots, the problem still persists. So, my main question right now is how to find out what drivers needs to be removed so I can install the drivers to my Motif 6. Of course, if anyone has another solution to the problem you are free to reply with an answer. |

I’m making a small bump here since I have gotten no replies at all in the last few days… I’m still struggling to find the cause of the problem, though no luck yet. All of the programs that I can think of that uses MIDI that I have installed now is MadTracker 2 and Guitar Pro 5. Though I’m not really sure if I want to remove them if it’s not absolutely necessary since I use them frequently. Does anybody have any experiences with problems ocurring when combining these programs with the installing of Yamaha USB-MIDI drivers? Please help me Awesome-Forum-With-Great-And-Professional-Looking-Layout, you’re my only hope! |

I think I came across that problem as well. I’m sort of on the same boat as you. I want to get my motif 6 working in sonar 7 with the midi cables. I posted something yesterday and I haven’t gotten any replies. Are you connecting using MIDI cables? And are they connected to your computer or an interface?

Maybe our ignorance combined will help solve at least one of our problems. |

The “25009” error is generally caused by errors in the Windows registry. Access the Windows registry and delete any redundancies that occur within the midi “name” category. Once you’ve cleaned the registry, reboot and reinstall. You should then be able to get things moving. Here’s how to do it:
1. Go Start > Run and type Regedit.

Have you searched the Microsoft knowledge base - this sounds like a windows issue.
Other thoughts:
The Vista/Win7 driver will probably not be suitable for an XP machine. Let us know if you find a working solution. Cheers |

I had the same issue even after deleting the Software > Microsoft > Windows NT > Current Version > Drivers32 > midi drivers. I did some looking around and I found another spot in the registry with Midi driver keys. I have windows 7 and a 64bit system so I don’t know if this is unique to 64 bit but here is the other folder: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32 After deleting the keys from both of the folders the software installed fine. Hope this helps. |

Well, found this thread almost 5 years after it was posted and it helped so wanted to thank SuperPartyRobot for the fix to my problem and thank Motifator for having the forum. I was helped by some of the folks over at the Image Line (FL Studio) forum and that led to needing to know more so I finally found this thread.
My problem had been that a brand new Novation Launchpad Mini wasn’t showing up in my MIDI settings of FL Studio and while it could receive messages it didn’t send any controller messages.
Still don’t have it completely the way I want it, but I’m up and running after a couple days of frustration, so wanted to say thanks!
Peace,
