MIDI THRU is always on.

Please describe what you have connected to your XF and what you are trying to accomplish.

thats what i thought, i can’t trigger my other module from my motif, i got a midi cable going out to the module on the mini input, what could i be doing wrong?

MIDI-Thru echoes what comes into MIDI-In. If there’s no data at MIDI-In, there will be nothing at MIDI-Thru.

If you want an external MIDI device to be triggered by what the XF is playing or controlling, connect it to the XF’s MIDI-Out.

What you specifically asked about can’t be done. One possible resolution would be to use a device such as http://www.midisolutions.com/prodthr.htm connected to the XF’s MIDI-Out.

If you fully describe your complete MIDI setup, we might be able to make other suggestions.

MIDI THRU allows daisy chaining like this:

Motif MIDI OUT to device #1 MIDI IN

Device #1 MIDI THRU to device #2 MIDI IN

Device #2 MIDI THRU to device #3 MIDI IN

etc.

This allows all the devices in the chain to receive MIDI form the MOTIF.
