Hi.

I have Motif XS and 40GB of libraries and sounds.
All libraries and voices are stored on NAS (Network Attached Storage).

Network configuration is: NAS (ReadyNAS Duo) -> Router (ZYXEL Giga) -> XS.
I use standards LAN cables only.
It doesn’t work: XS doesn’t see Host.
Can you advice me?

Hi

One thing to try is to manually type in the SMB share name, mine runs like that. Its an XF, but I’m guessing the network settings are the same.

Hi

One thing to try is to manually type in the SMB share name, mine runs like that. Its an XF, but I’m guessing the network settings are the same.

Network setup (menu UTILITY).
I tried both ways: manually setup and automatically DNS.
It doesn’t matter. In all cases Motif XS connect to network and I can see new device in router (DHCP clients).

Mount. (menu FILE)
I tried to select host from list [LIST button]. I see 5 hosts: router (3 times, I dont know why), NAS connected via LAN, Mac connected via WiFi.
But there is a problem: scroll doesn’t wok. I used wheel, arrows.

I typed manually host name, but XS ask me to enter username/password.
I don’t use password at all, but I tried all combinations that I remember. No affect.

Hi

Okay, mine doesn’t list the hosts, but when I type in the share name and the user name and password, I get a connection share name showing up which I then have to mount and then its connected.

How are you mounting that share from anywhere else on the network ? I’m thinking maybe it has to have a user name and password ie. admin/admin guest/password or something of that sort.

It is also odd that you can’t scroll through the hosts.

Mantra, thanks.

It works, when I manually type host name, user/password.
It is a really shame of Yamaha, I believe.

Now I tried to load my first bank, but it took too much time. About 10 minutes for 640Mb.
Is it right?

Hi

Glad to hear you got it working. As far as the load time i think thats where the products diverge, what I can say is that the flash on the xf is quite slow to write to. Also, the ethernet connection is 100Mbps not 1Gbps so if you’re expecting the same kind of speed you’re getting to your PC, then its going to seem slow. Sometimes the router will have different coloured link lights depending on the speed, like green for 1gbps, orange for 100mbps etc. so you might be able to get an idea of the link speed. That said 640MB taking 10 minutes sounds like 10Mbps.

I guess one way to test it might be to put the bank on a usb stick and load it from there and see how long it takes. The usb port is usb 2 so should run at as much as 480mbps and therefore be almost 5 times faster than the ethernet which kind of defeats the purpose a bit....but it would help to establish whether its the memory or link which is slow.

Maybe some other XS users can chime in here.
