Hi all, I discovered this problem when I layer strings or brass or fast pads to piano or EP on my MOX6, that when I played 5 subsequent notes with sustain pedal pressed and when I played the 6 note, the first note from the 5 subsequent notes got cut off. May I know how do I solve this problem? I hope my description of the problem is clear enough as I really don’t know how to put this in English words. Hope that I can solve this problem very soon as I will have a gig coming up very soon. Thank you in advance! |

The MOX has 64-note polyphony. Depending on which Voices you’re layering, sustaining 5 played notes and then adding a sixth might be beyond the polyphony limit. In that case, the first note will be dropped so that the most recent one can be played. You can determine the polyphony used by looking at the Voice List in the MOX Data List (http://download.yamaha.com/file/52367). For each Preset Voice the number of Elements used is shown. Add up the Elements for all the layered Voices, multiply by two for each Voice Element that is stereo, then multiply again by the number of sustained notes. Then determine what playing another note will cause the total to be. If you’re exceeding the polyphony limit (64), then you can either release the sustain pedal before hitting the limit, or choose Voices to layer which have fewer active Elements. The XS, XF and MOXF have polyphony about twice that of the MOX.
Although written about the XS, this support article may be interesting:

Thank you so much for your reply, sir! I guess there is no way to increase the polyphony of the keyboard as MOX6 is only built to have 64 maximum polyphony, but to use other Voices as substitute. Thank you again, Sir! |
