Which Sample Editor do you like, for editing samples, to feed Melas Waveform Editor? (for Mac or Win)

The options I’m considering:

1. Melas Waveform Editor
-- basic. but excellent.
-- con: limited zoom controls slow me down

2. Pro Tools (my DAW)
3. Wavelab
4. Kontakt Editor
5. Other

An unsung “hero” with sample editing and manipulation is FL studio.  They offer several editions and even the lower priced ‘model’ has these capabilities

Just another option out there

Addendum:  there are hundreds of tutorials for FL Studio on YouTube, and many are specific to sampling operations.

Quite capable, available for several platforms, and if you don’t like it you haven’t lost anything but some time:

For simple looping, Audacity is my tool.  Zooming. Don’t know the other apps, but Audacity works!

Thank you, fellas. I’ll check ‘em out.

I am impressed how much mileage I’m getting out of Melas Waveform editor’s Sample Editor feature.

5pins suggestion of Audacity made me chuckle when recalling the first time I used it to remove vocals from an old Byrds song for karaoke.  It worked great.  Never really tapped into other features, but perhaps now would be a good time as any. Thanx

The workflow I value in Melas Waveform Editor is:

1. edit sample
2. play on-screen keyboard to play it.

(The on-screen keyboard and the accompanying fundamental sound controls are so useful I have yet to bother connecting a midi keyboard, as I am enjoying laptop freedom.)

What I’m getting at is:
Good sample editor that’s tied in with on-screen/midi keyboard key mapping seems real useful. I’m sort of new to this, so I may not be aware of the obvious, core functions of these programs.
I’d be pleasantly surprised if Wavelab has it. With a DAW, I would imagine one would likely have to incorporate a virtual sampler.

Kontakt probably has it ready to go.

Sorry, there’s no on-screen keyboard in Audacity.

Because the time shifting in the Motif sampler is by percent rather than by new tempo, I shift drum loops in Ableton Live.

I’ve also edited a few samples in Live’s editor.
