Hello,motifator.

Guys i will nead your help regarding what to buy tomorrow.
I cam buy a moxf8 with 6500RON =1460EURO or a kurzweil forte with 8000RON = 1797EURO in Romania . The offer on kurzweil is better if i look at the regular price. both instruments are new.
I have own in the past a motif xs8. I play with moxf8 but i never play the kurzweil.i will use the keyboard in home for home use only. what do you think ? buy a forte for the price or moxf?

Sorry for my english.

Kurzweil must be superior, simply plays in another piece of ground. But it is indispensable to check if the sound suits to your needs before you buy. Kurzweil has a different character. I’ve owned a PC361 formerly and I deeply loved it for a while and then still traded for a MOXF simply due to the fact that I cannot find or produce the sound chartacter that I like.
But my Kuwzweil had 128 MB sample memory (anachronistic a bit) while Forte has an amazing 3.3G!
As it is quite piano centric piece of instrument number of factory sounds is quite moderate (around 300) in comparison of the swiss army knife MOXF.
As V.A.S.T. editing enabled, you got all freedom of hell and heaven to edit your patches.
More you liked your XS8 more probable that MOXF will suit for you. But Forte is definitely much nearer to the edge I think.

OS 2.01 allows 3.375 GB of user samples to be loaded. If an older unit is purchased, the updated Forte OS can be downloaded for free.

Of course, a flash memory module for the MOXF is optional, and might change the cost consideration.

One significant difference between the MOXF and Forte is that the Forte doesn’t have a sequencer.

There are Sample Memory 3.3 GB and “Flash Playâ„¢ 16 GB” features but I have not investigated the exact meaning and usage of the latter.

Anyway, if you brought an informed decision then it is possible that MOXF will suit better for your present needs. Good luck.

thanks for the info. I think a sequencer-great sound engine-keyboard is a great combination.

With the Forte, is all the PC3/PC3K series editing available?

Thank you.moxf is better for me because of the amazing arpegiator.the forte has only 322 voices. Forte has a few amazing pianos in.in time I will buy the Mutec FMC-07 2GB Flash Board and I will have enough space for my needs.

See:
kurz comparison
I’m quite convinced that VAST editing means full voice editing capabilities available as provided by the architecture.

Great link. Thanks for providing it here, so I can help keep my “blinders” on. For what I like in the Motif, I think Kurzweil makes the closest alternative.
