Hello:

I successfully could load two waveforms from an USB storage device (waveforms that I created in my PC with John Melas Waveform editor), My problem is that I can’t assign categories on the “Wave Main Category” and the “Wave sub category” menus on the Motif XF.  Neither I see way to assign them with the John Melas software before transferring them to the instrument.

Thanks for your help

Hi. My motif isn’t near me. It is possible to do on the motif.

See if some of the following helps:

Select your user Voice.
Select edit.
Select common.

Then look for a tab that seems likely.

Consider the [CHAR] tab.

It’s in there. Sorry I can’t be more specific.

As far as I know, that can be done with a User Voice, but not with a Waveform.
(If anyone knows otherwise, please tell us how.)

If you need to be able to rapidly access a Waveform, you can make it a Favorite. See page 17 of the XF Supplementary Manual (http://download.yamaha.com/file/53105).

Thanks (I think user waveforms will stay “USER”, and categories only show as “---” in the menus of the voice edit mode).

Regards

my bad for my useless reply. i read it wrong, and didn’t know answer.

i do recall creating waveforms. and i did notice category section. come to think of it—i believe i was able to assign new waveforms to a main category. (I did not try to add a sub category). I thought it was awesome I could do so.

I did it in a similar window as i would have done it for a Voice. But, again, I’m not at my XF now.

And so, … I’d say, I think it’s possible. Hunt around for it, perhaps?—But, I could be totally wrong.

(gotta be honest, i’m glad that the XF forum is back on XF.)

I would also like to be able to organize waveforms loaded onto the flash boards into Main & Sub categories, as are the preset waveforms. I just explored the XF in all places I could consider, and I searched both manuals; and, I couldn’t find it either.

It seems our ways to organize waveforms on the flash boards are:
- assigning Favorites
- Melas Waveform Editor (file placement & names)
- independent spreadsheet (for the organized & dedicated ;)
