Hi,

First my apologies if this has been covered earlier, but I haven´t found anything helping me out so far.

I have a setup with a motif MO8 and a XF06. the XF is the master controller, sending prg/bank change to the MO8 via std. midi 5 pin. My problem is to make the MO8 change bank, not only program I have the Ymaha sheet with the MSB-LSB codes, and the MO8 doesn´t react to these…

Bank chg. is enabled on both devices, they are on the same midi-channel…

Programming wise I have setup everything on the XF in Master-mode, assigning part 8 to adress the MO8 on midi ch 2, with external switches set to on and zone switch set to on in Common. That does the trick, reg. programchange…

Does anyone have any experience to make this work?

Thanks,

Erik

The MO8 should respond if the Bank Select MSB/LSB are properly sent, and the MO8 is in the corresponding mode.

Which MSB/LSB are you sending?
What mode is the MO8 in?

Hi, thanks for taking time time to help me!

The MO8 is in Performance mode - stays in whatever bank I choose manually, e.g. USR1, and doesn´t respond to msb/lsb. I use 063-008 for USR1, or 063-000 If I want to move to preset 1.

Only thing I haven´t tried is to replace the cable, maybe it is that simple…

Hi, thanks for taking time time to help me!

You’re welcome.

erikhoirup -

That’s not the correct Bank Select MSB/LSB when the MO8 is in Performance mode.
For Performance mode:
063/064 - User 1
063/065 - User 2

See the Bank Select information on page 62 of the MO6/MO8 Data List (http://download.yamaha.com/file/7423).

or 063-000 If I want to move to preset 1.

Preset 1 is a Voice mode bank, but you can’t use Bank Select to change modes via MIDI - that requires a Parameter Change (SysEx) message be sent, as follows:
F0 43 10 7F 00 0A 00 01 00 F7 (Voice mode)
F0 43 10 7F 00 0A 00 01 01 F7 (Performance mode)
F0 43 10 7F 00 0A 00 01 02 F7 (Pattern mode)
F0 43 10 7F 00 0A 00 01 03 F7 (Song mode)
F0 43 10 7F 00 0A 00 01 04 F7 (Master mode)

I hope that helps.
