The state of Firewire with Windows is not good. Many people have issues based on the chipset used. The Ricoh chipset is not one that is known to work well with the FW16e.

I own a Mac and there are no problems. The FW16e even works with the Apple FW/Thunderbolt adapter.

Anyone who gets the FW16e working with Windows is lucky…

I’m going to hold on to my FW16e card because, as said earlier, I am hoping to get another computer in the (hopefully) near future.  It’s ironic that you mentioned a Mac, because my next computer WILL be a Mac.  It will be a much different environment, for me, but one that I am sure I’ll become accustomed to in not too long a period of time.
