2nd attempt was successful - the problem was me - I didn’t see why I should give my credit card details for something which is free but you have to give those details or you don’t get anywhere.
Downloaded all the free ones and the manuals (which are under support)
iPad not arrived yet but hopefully I can load the apps from my PC.
Annoyed at the i-UX1 is £60 for piddling little cable so will try to work round it with another adapter.

as far as what I seen, you can only use it for voices and not for master and performances, to use it is very easy, you press learn and on your motif select the program you want to use, once selected press learn again and it will save that registration, now continue with the next program

thank you for the reply leon. it worked when I connected it via USB instead of MIDI.

shame the setlist manager doesn’t work with master and performance modes. that decapitates its usefulness for me personally. but I’ll see what if I can incorporate it into my live setup anyways.
