Hey guys,

I am very new to programming with the MOTIF XF series.

Honestly I only know how to play the piano but I do not know about editing sounds and layers.

I am trying to figure out exactly what LFO, Filters, and Frequencies are…

Also It would be great if any of you could include how it affects the sound.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

You might start by downloading the Synthesizer Parameter Manual.

Since you ask what frequencies are and how it affects sound, I will assume you don’t know a lot about the basics of sound.  Please forgive me if I am misinterpreting your question and am getting too basic.

Here are some tutorials covering the basics of sound:

Here is a very good, but long tutorial on sound:

When you’re ready for something more in-depth, “Sound Synthesis and Sampling” by Martin Russ is an excellent book on sound and sound synthesis.

(Off topic: for those who want a good laugh, check out this video on the basics of frequencies:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jL7UQikEIo)

Moxrox,

Not at all. I appreciate any resources that can be helpful. I have a very scattered understanding on the subject and I am sure that I can learn something new from the videos your provided.

Thanks a lot man
