I have been searching for answers on how to assign those knobs to parameters either by using the editor or the machine (keyboard) I would like to assign “Insert Delay” to Knob 1 and Portamento speed to knob 2
Does anyone know how to do that

Welcome to the forums! There is no parameter “Insert Delay” (we’ll need more specific information) You can assign the AS1/AS2 knobs to any of 50+ parameter Destinations, including “PORTAMENTO TIME”, and certain specific available Insert Effect parameters. The parameters that are available are dependent upon which Effect Type is assigned to the Voice. (you will see the listed parameter Destinations for the selected Effect - the ones that can be controlled will have the parameter name listed) ... see below
From Performance mode select the Voice you wish to Edit
Here you will find six Controller Setups, each assigns a physical controller (Source) to a parameter (Destination), and allows a Depth setting that determines the degree of application. We can help you with assigning Portamento but without more information about which specific Insert Effect, and which specific parameter in that effect.
Set the SOURCE to “AS1(16)”
When you have completed editing press STORE and store your new voice to one of 128 User Voice locations, U001-U128
For help with the parameter abbreviations please refer to the Synthesizer Parameter Manual and the MX DATA LIST booklet |

No, don’t misunderstand me, it is very possible to assign a knob to control certain parameters of an Insert Effect. What I am trying to tell you is that you must select a specific Delay Effect and a specific parameter about that Delay Effect.
For example here is a list of the possible Delay Category effects:
You need to pick a specific Effect TYPE, then assign a specific available parameter. Some of the possible parameters are as follows:
Say you choose the DELAY TYPE = “CROSS DELAY” your available parameters would be:
Say you choose “DELAY L, C, R” the available parameters would be
Saying you want to control the Delay effect does not specifically tell us which parameter within the Delay you wish to control.
So you have to be specific, there are eight different Delay Types, and some of them have very unique parameters.
Think about what you would like to control and then select that parameter.

And about AF1/AF2 buttons. The MX can handle these articulation functions or not ?
Thanks. |

Well yes I can. What Voice are you editing?
Call up the Voice
This is where you select an Insert Effect for the Part
Press [EXIT]
This is where you can assign effect parameters to CONTROLLERS.
SOURCE = physical controller
Under DESTINATION you will find the parameters listed. If a parameter is available you will see the abbreviation of that parameter. If a parameter is unavailable, you will see a number like: P1, P2 meaning Parameter 1 and Parameter 2 are not available.
Please refer to the DATA LIST Booklet for available parameters per Effect Type.
