I had a KX88, Motif, Motif ES and Motif XS. Know I use a Kronos 88. I just bought an MX49 to have a non-weighted keyboard and some of the Motif sounds. The Yamaha implementation of software and the 3rd party BS to instal and use any of the tools continues to suck. What a poor user experience! 10 steps plus eLicenser BS that crashes.
The download files from Yamahasynth.com continue to be cryptic = YSUSB_V172_Mac,
I downloaded one USB driver for the Kronos and it worked. Take some lessons. |

Don’t blame Yamaha about the e-licenser issues, that’s Steinberg and it drives everyone else insane too. I’ve had zero problems getting the drivers for my Motif, who cares what they are named. |

I had no problems either with the driver. It was just like installing any other device. It took me less than a minute to get going, fired up my DAW, tested some MIDI in/out and recorded some playing. You may already know but just in case, all you need to use the keyboard is just the USB driver if you have an existing DAW or some other software for recording audio, everything else is optional. I personally didn’t use the included Cubase AI, YC3B or Prologue so I can’t comment on them. I know some anti-piracy software can be a major pita though. The file names aren’t too cryptic once you get used to driver jargon. YSUSB_V172_Mac = Yamaha Synth USB driver version 1.7.2 for Macintosh. |
