I have a Motif ES 6 and I have a 9 bar track.  Bars 1 and 2 is my intro and I want to loop bars 3 to 9 about 4 times starting in bar 10.  I have 5 different patches (sounds) and I want to copy everything.  All this is in section A.  Is there a way to do this instead of playing like 31 bars of the same thing?

Thanks

Our math says this will yield 30 measures, not 31 - are you sure about your measures?
Intro = 1 and 2
the repeated section 3-9 is actually 7 measures
7 x 4 + 2 = 30 measures… is that right? If so…

Here is what you must do to reconfigure your SECTION. It will read more complicated than it is to do.

_ You will create a PATTERN CHAIN that includes just your 9 Measure Section.
_ You will CONVERT this to a linear SONG.
_ You will go to SONG mode and use the EVENT COPY Job to copy allTracks, for your 7 measures, 3-9, to measure 10, three times.

_ Use the SPLIT SONG to SPLIT Job to paste the 30 measures back to PATTERN.

If you need more information let us know.

The number 31 that I gave you was just an approximation; I didn’t do the actual math.  But you are correct that it would yield 30 measures.  I think I will need some detailed instruction on how to do everything that you mentioned above.

For this example we will be using PATTERN 01 and SONG 01… your numbers can vary - use whatever PATTERN and SONG locations you require. The thing to know is you need an “empty” SONG location to which you will transfer the data, edit it and then you will retrieve it.

_ You will create a PATTERN CHAIN that includes just your 9 Measure Section.

Call up your PATTERN
Press [F6] CHAIN
Press [EDIT]
Here you can place your SECTION at measure 001. You don’t mention any other time signature so we will assume it is 4/4 (the default).

001 __ 4/4 ______ A

_ You will CONVERT this to a linear SONG.

Press [F3] SONG>

Set the dialog box so that:

SONG 01
Measure 001
[x] Without PC

You do not need program change information - make sure the “without PC” is marked.

_ You will go to SONG mode and use the EVENT COPY Job to copy all Tracks, for your 7 measures, 3-9, to measure 10, three times.

Press [SONG]
Go to the Song you targeted.
Press [JOB]
Press [F3] EVENT
Select JOB 02: COPY EVENT > press [ENTER]
Set the dialog box so that: (please read carefully)

--------------------------------------------
COPY EVENT
TR =ALL

003:1:000 - 010:1:000
TO
010:1:000
Number of Times ________ x03
--------------------------------------------

Press [ENTER] to execute.

Yes, you copy from the first beat of measure 3 to the first beat of measure 10, that is your 7 complete measures. And yes you target the first beat of measure 10.

Measure:Beat:Clock tick

_ Use the SPLIT SONG to SPLIT Job to paste the 30 measures back to PATTERN

Press [JOB]
Press [F6] SONG
Select JOB 02: SPLIT SONG TO PATTERN

------------------------------------------
Meas 001 - 030

PATTERN 01 - SECTION [A]
-----------------------------------------

This will write your 30 measures back to the original PATTERN SECTION and create the appropriate 30 measure Phrase - playing as you outlined.

Hope that helps.
