$700 bucks for this thing. Thats not cheap. The most expensive case on musiciansfriend is $499. Anyone have anything good to say about this case? Any bad? 83 lbs god almighty! Kryptonite Cases have no website, no info about the maker, just a couple points from motifator. Anyone know anything about this Kryptonite? I’d search the site for answers on this, but.... well… ya… nevermind :) |

Hey there, The kryptonite site is here: http://www.kryptonitecases.com/ These are handmade ultra-premium cases. By the way, the cases aren’t actually 83 pounds, that is just the ‘dimensional weight’ as required by UPS. KF |

Man, just get SKB or Gator. I’ve had my Gator cases for 6 years holding Motif Classic, ES, and Triton Studio. |

I have a Kryptonite Case and I love it! I got a deal on a blemished return...$450 (if memory serves)! I’ve used the Gator cases and they are fine for limited travel. I don’t think I’d trust my XS8 (i.e. heavy) in one of those on a plane or on a pallet packed with other gear. For the lighter boards or in situation where you’re not moving a whole lot or packing your board on a pallet or in a truck with other gear, the Gator type would be fine. Also, if you play outside alot and your cases are exposed to sunlight, I’ve found that Gator cases tend to warp in the sunlight...and I’m not talking desert heat (although being in a military band, I’ve had to deal with that situation specifically) Once my Gator case warped, it never closed properly again. I’m very particular about caring for my gear and wouldn’t leave them in the sun for prolonged periods anyway, but I found that even minimal exposure caused enough warping to cause problems. The Kryptonite case fit my board specifically, so I didn’t have to worry about it sliding around inside the case. My only complaint is that it is very heavy when it’s loaded and it has only one handle on the top (cruel joke)! If you can deal with that and want the best protection for your investment, you won’t be disappointed. dmc |

My Gator cases travel in a non A/C Aerostar Van in South Texas heat and haven’t warped yet. |

Put them in direct sunlight while setting up for an outside gig and let me know how they hold up! Granted, not many people would do that on purpose, but I’ve definitely had a few situation where it’s been an issue. dmc |
