So I just bought one of these stands for my new Yamaha XF8: http://www.onstagestands.com/catalog/item/home/model/KS7150/grp/GRP000073 It appears to be holding the weight of the XF easily. However, check out this pic: http://www.worknman.com/web/xf/onstage_stand.png I can only zoom out far enough while lying on the floor to fit one side into the frame, but as you can see, the stand is neither long or wide enough to support the entire board. And the two bars running across the bottom of the stand are ‘hanging’ just slightly enough so that they’re providing little-to-no support. Can I assume that the underside of the keyboard (the part that looks like particle board) is built sturdy enough to handle this kind of pressure and that having it set up this way won’t do any long-term damage? Note: I posted this on Harmony Central, and opinions were mixed, but a couple folks commented that it should be fine for home use, and I don’t intend to play this live. I wanted to post here for a second opinion… figured maybe the Yamaha rep could chime in, as I don’t want to void my warranty or anything for having it set up this way :) I like the stand; it doesn’t wobble or anything when I play, and I don’t have any fear of it collapsing. I’m just a little worried that the bottom part of the keyboard might cave in over time, due to the pressure being put on it by the stand. |
