I have been having some problems with my Motif Classic 7.  I recently bought a new pair of headphones (AKG K240) after noticing static at higher volumes with my old headphones (with the slider about 3/4th the way to the top) that was quite annoying.  The static with the new headphones is not nearly as bad, but it is still apparent at high volumes, in particular when using voices such as Jazz Piano.

I tried running my motif into an amp and the sound is crisp and clear.  The problem seems to stem from the headphone input on my Motif. 

Any ideas as to what the problem is, or how to fix this if it is the phones input on my Motif?

Is the headphones 32 Ohms? Your ‘static’ might be clipping.
