Saying “as instructed” does not help in this instnace - as normally when you do as instructed there is not a problem. Please recount the steps that you recall doing…

Thanks.

1) downloaded um223xp2.zip
2) unzipped, extracted to local drive
3) while motif was not connected to computer switched midi setting to USB
3) turned off motif ,attached usb cable to and from rack to laptop
4) turned on motif
5) laptop found motif
6) did search on local drive for driver (pointed to local drive above)
7) laptop finished and wanted to restart
8) upon restart, went to control panel/device manager/sound video/yama usb-mid clicked on prperties, there it says
“Cannot load device driver...could be corrupt...(39)”

i tried this multiple times uninstalling/installing
stil had same problems.

thanks

UPDATE: i borrowed a friend’s laptop and it worked.
here’s the difference....my laptop is running XP professional sp2
and his is running XP home edition sp2.

does that mean these drivers do not work for XP professional? or are there XP professional drivers?

please advise, if not, then i’m still seeing the same problem.
Driver could not be loaded .... error (39)

thanks,

It might mean that you are not logged in to your computer with sufficient privileges to install the Generic USB/MIDI driver. Security features are one of the main differentiators between XP Home and XP Professional.
