I’m trying to move what i have saved on my Classic Motif to my Macbook Pro. I only have Garageband at the moment, though i hope to be running Logic soon. To move my music from Mo to Mac what would i need to do?  Thanks!

If by music, you mean MIDI files and not the audio, you would simply save the songs as MIDI files and import into Garageband…

Hey M8M, thank you for replying.  Since I’m A nube, and still trying to find my way around on a Motif, can you tell me exactly what I would need to do to move my midi files from the motif to garageband?  What sequence? Most of what I have is saved under All Pattern and Allsong. Thanks again.

OK, it’s been a few years since I’ve upgraded my Motif Classic but, you have a few options.

1) You can save each song individually as an SMF file. So when saving, choose File Type SMF, save to your smart media card. And, if you have a reader, simply move the files over to the MAC.

2) Without a reader, you can, (via USB), record the song in realtime via MIDI. The card reader will save you a lot of time…

3) Also, Page 118 of the manual references file utility software that came with the Motif to transfer file to the computer…

Hey M8M, once again I’m sorry for being so “not in the know” but can you tell me what a “reader” is?  is that something i need to buy at the apple store?  thanks again.
