Hi… I am just checking to see if there is an easy way to do this… I make a song on the Motif ES. The song is ready to be dumped into my DAW [Sonar 8 Producer Edition]. Instead of saving a .SMF I want to know if there is a way to record the MIDI tracks directly into Sonar? Or, if you can share the way you work that would be great to...? I find myself working on the Motif ES first to build the foundation tracks for my songs and then once I am ready I dump them into Sonar and add more and get a lot more intricate. The way I do it now:
1. Make my song
Thanks in advance! |

Yes there is an easier way to do this. You should start your MIDI
Believe it or not, the keyboard section of the Motif is a separate
For now, if you want the MIDI data from the Motif to go into Sonar,

Dave, Is there no way to setup Sonar to record the MIDI parts form the ES??? Or is that just pointless? |

I’m no guru, but I believe you need to go to SONG > TRACK > CHANNEL to set up the channel output assignments, then SONG > TRACK > OUT SW to turn on the midi commands going out of the ES. When the Song plays back, you should be able to record it in Sonar. I did this with arpeggios going into Cubase AI4. Read this http://files2.keyfax.com/ESPDFs/PHRASE_FACTORY_Cubase.pdf for more information. From the title it might not sound like it applies to your situation, but it does. |
