Hey guys,

I’m new to the synth and MIDI world,
So please forgive me if I ask a stupid question or say ridiculous things…

My system is:

Windows XP Pro 32bit
AMD Athlon X2,
M-Audio FireWire 410,
Nuendo 4.2,
Novation Remote Keyboard via USB.

I tried to install the Yamaha USB MIDI Driver 3.0.2,
But I the system refused to recognize it as a valid driver.
So after some trials I downloaded an earlier version 2.2.3,
And it installed allright and I started working.

Things seem to function well, but there is a tapping sound in the left monitor all the time that the computer and the motif are hooked and on.

You dont hear that sound in the headphones.

If I swich the left and right cables in the Motife’s Audio Output It will still sound in the left monitor.

if I connect the Motif’s Output to the sound card’s inputs I can see the tapping within nuendo on the Motif’s Track level meters.

If the computer is on and no program is working you still get that tapping all the time.

If the computer is shut down and I listen to the motif by itself direcly to the monitors,
there is no tapping sound.

Could this be the USB MIDI driver doing this?

Is this the MIDI Clock signal, produced by the USB MIDI driver?

Should the MIDI Clock be heard as audio tapping in the system?

(The Motif’s MIDI Clock setting is set to Auto)

Thanks in advance for any help,

Oded

It apears that the ‘tapping’ was caused by the fact that both the Motif and the Novation Remote25 Keyboard,
were active with their USB MIDI drivers.

I don’t what device’s fault it is,

But the minute I disconnected the Novation USB,
and hooked it through to the soundcard with a regular MIDI cable instead of USB MIDI,

The ‘tapping’ stopped.
