You should read article written by Bad Mister:
http://files2.keyfax.com/ESPDFs/PHRASE_FACTORY_Cubase.pdf
Although it is written for Cubase, the method could be applied to any DAW like yours.
After that you could try to follow example. Than, you will see that it isn’t so complicated :)

In the Support section you will find an article which uses SONAR (which may be closer to your Cakewalk Pro software)

Phrase Factory Tips and Tricks for SONAR

I understand that you have edit voice in Song mode. If you save these edits, edited voice is saved to Mixing voice bank (MIXV). In order to keep your edited voice, you should save your song/pattern to USB stick before you turn off keyboard.

You need to “record arp to track” in the ES, then you can transfer to software.

1.  Hit the record button on the Motif.
2.  Select “ARP” (F3 button) and select your desired arp
3.  Select “RECARP” (F4 button)
4.  Select “ON” using the NO/YES buttons.
5.  IMPORTANT: Make sure you turn the quantize feature to OFF!
6.  Record your material into the Motif.
7.  Play the just recorded track from the Motif into your sofware.

There ya go...!
