Hi all,

Does anyone know (or still care… :-) what the trailing “Of”, “+”, “-”, “St”, “Mn” etc. mean in the names of the waveforms in the MOX Data List (pages 29ff)?

Is there a spec of some sort?

Thanks, and nice day/evening.

Ralph

Here’s my short list (and maybe erroneous understanding):

St: Stereo
Mn: Mono
+: Tuned slightly sharp
-: Tuned slightly flat
Of: Offset

“Offset” means that waveform playback starts after the initial attack, i.e., the start is offset from the beginning. “Of” waveforms are typically used when programming a legato voice.

Hope this helps—pj

Agreed.

My understanding is somewhat different…
+ = Sample extended above the original pitch
- = Sample extended below the original pitch

Yes. When playing legato, the attack should only be heard with the initial note, and not retriggered with succeeding ones. Using XA Control = “legato”, and “Of” Waveforms, that can be more easily accomplished.

Here are a couple more:
KOf = Key Off sound
Sw = Velocity-switched Waveform
