Hi guys I was having trouble with noise/hiss while recording my MOXF via USB, so after a lot of help from this forum on why might this be happening and how resolve it nothing worked on getting rid of the noise/hiss problem http://www.motifator.com/index.php/forum/viewthread/479397/ so it was suggested to get someone with electrical experience to take a look which I did.

Take the unit back to the store, if it is under warranty they will help you or they can repair it. My MOXF is silent no hiss, and it doesn’t give me troubles with the USB to host port. In fact I love that I can bounce down audio tracks from midi tracks using Cubase without needing any extra cables. I don’t think it is a factory problem. Good luck! |

I didn’t suggest that you “get someone with electrical experience to take a look”, I suggested that you get such a person to help with modifying a USB cable. You said “nothing worked”. During those five hours, did the “professionals” do what I suggested in the thread you linked to above? Did they modify a USB cable or try a USB isolation device?

Here’s a little test for you to try…

It’s not good, but the problem can be resolved. |

[rant] I’ve been involved in audio-related electronics for a long time. People tended to believe what I said when they had to pay for the information. Apparently advice isn’t trusted by some when it’s free. I should probably just establish a website for advice similar to what I provide here, but charge a membership fee. [/rant] USB noise and ground-loop issues are not limited to Yamaha products. The cause can sometimes be difficult to track down, especially when there are several interconnected pieces of gear. However, often the solution can be simple. For those who aren’t close-minded, below are several items worth reading. I don’t agree with everything posted in them, but I think the general idea should become apparent…

MXF, I know you’ll ignore this post because it isn’t beneficial to you, but you won’t find anyone like our very own 5pinDIN and if you did you’d be in for a lot of money and your problem would be fixed already. He’s one of a kind, he does it with love and evidently he now even rants in an informative manner! So to sum up… 1 - Your MOXF couldn’t possibly have developed a fault? 2 - It isn’t anything to do with your environment? 3 - It’s Yamaha’s fault. 4 - It is categorically not your fault and user error is out of the question. 5 - 5pinDIN is chopped liver. (My favourite on this list and the kind of attitude that saw many world class people quit posting help on the internet on many audio related forums, Bob Katz as an example). 6 - When the outcome of the discussion doesn’t suit you, you start another thread. |
