Hello,
Something has been puzzling me.  Can anyone tell me why when I create a performance with say 4 voices without changing anything settings-wise to the voices or anything else, the overall volume during playback is say a 5 out of 10.
When I then scroll up to a pre-set Yamaha created performance and play it I’m almost knocked off my seat by the volume, 10 out of 10.  All this without changing a thing setting-wise.

Why does this happen?  How can I get this volume in my created performances?

Here are a few offhand possible causes…

It could be due to the Output Volume setting for the Performance. See page 60 of the MOXF Reference Manual (http://download.yamaha.com/file/60478).

It could be that Yamaha has chosen EQ settings (see page 61) or Effects (such as the VCM EQ 501 or the VCM Compressor 376) to boost levels.

I suggest that you examine such Parameter settings of the Yamaha Performances as a starting point - one of the reasons that the Yamaha Performances exist is as examples.

I was going to try to replicate a performance using the same voices in one of the presets to see if I get the same result.  I didn’t think about the EQ etc modifications.  But I will dig deeper now.  I’ll figure it out eventually.  Jake

I finally answered my own question and found a gold mine in the archives. I just didn’t know what to ask or search for.  This is the article that answered my questions.

Another thing to consider is whether Parameter with Voice has been turned on before selecting a Voice for a Part in a Performance.
