For reasons I don’t feel like typing, I am in a specific situation where I am trying to record the audio from the MX49, and the only input method available is a 1/8” stereo jack.
Let me just say that no, it’s not my choice (working with someone who’s equipment is convoluted and limited), but this is what I have to work with.
My question is how specifically am I going to get the highest quality sound into a 1/8” stereo jack?
the software we’re using only works with the M-audio micro USB audio interface like this one;

I’ve been told RCA is better in quality than just using a aux cable, but can I plug RCA into the board?

Hi orderofthings,

Given that the MX49 has two 1/4” mono jack outputs, and your mini audio interface has a stereo 1/8” input, your only shot is a Y cable like this:

https://www.amazon.com/TNP-Premium-3-5mm-Audio-Cable/dp/B01CNMSQOO/ref=br_lf_m_cucjahhzcpyd5ku_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&s=home-garden

I’m confused by what you mean when you say “I’ve been told RCA is better in quality than just using a aux cable”

If you mean RCA phono hifi type connectors, and you have a Y cable with RCA phonos on it, they can be adapted to 1/4” mono jacks (to fit your MX) with inexpensive adaptors like this:

http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/attachments/remotes-cables-accessories-tweaks/81841d1425003980-how-solder-illustrated-diy-guide-making-your-own-cables-rca-type-jack-ah206.jpg

RCA phono hifi connectors will not fit your MX as they are.

It is all far from ideal, but it will get the job done.

Let’s never speak of this beyond today ;-)
