I recently created a new voice from scatch using a clap.  I added reverb to it.  I am in the process of creating a performance which has this new voice in it.  The clap sounds different than it does in voice mode. It sounds like the reverb is gone and for some reason it keeps repeating as I hold the key instead of clapping once as it does as a voice.  From other posts I’ve read I understand the effects don’t come with the voice to performance mode.  I have a Motif 7 and I’m wondering if there are steps that I can follow to copy my effects into the performance and also remove the repeating.

You should add voices to a Performance just like to a Song (Sequencer).

Look at almost the same question asked in XS forum:

“Voice different in Song Mode”.
