Sorry if this is a question for the Cubase forum ...

I’m looking to buy a used MOXF-8. It’s not clear yet whether it comes with the original Cubase certificate, and even if it does the certificate may have already been used.

Is it possible to get the Cubase software for a used MOXF, or are you out of luck if it does not come with an unused certificate?

May also be worth considering that Cubase has had a fair few nice upgrades in recent years and it’s likely that the included version would look dated now.
IMHO, the 80 quid an Elements 9.5 costs is well worth it even IF you can sort the free version out.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Yamaha/Steinberg support team provided a download access code to use Cubase AI (version 10).  I have come to the conclusion that the Yamaha/Steinberg USB driver will install on your PC but not work with a Motif XF, but the Yamaha USB driver does work.  I’m guessing the new boards like Montage have an entirely different USB port which makes provision for sound in addition to MIDI.

Yes, the Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver is meant for use with models such as the MOX and MOXF, which do audio over USB.

The Yamaha USB Driver is indeed the correct one for use with a Motif XF.
