Hello forum,
I try not to ask for request on this forum, but i really want to recreate the classic MOTIF acoustic guitar strum voice on my MX49.

I love that my MX49 has that MOTIF mojo.
The voice elements of the classic MOTIF strum voice are what i need.
If anyone with a classic MOTIF can tell me the name of the guitar elements i would be very greatfull.
I think there are 2 or 4 elements to the strum voice.

Are you asking about Motif (Classic) PRE1 84 F04 “Strums”?

Yes sir, thats the voice im looking for.

Hopefully someone will post specific Motif Classic information about that Voice.

For now, while I don’t have a Classic, perhaps I can be somewhat helpful. I’m attaching a zipped “all” file for the Motif XF, in which the Classic Voices have been converted and located in User Voice banks 1, 2 and 3. “Strums” is in USER1 84 F04. It has three Elements.

If you download and install the free Yamaha Motif XF Editor Standalone/VST, and run it standalone, you can open the “all” file, select the “Strums” Voice, and see all the Parameters as programmed for the XF.

I dont think the xf editor will work.
All i could find was the mac version.
Do you know where the pc version is?

MOTIF XF Editor Standalone/VST V1.6.4 for Windows:

Windows 7 SP1
Windows 8 (32-bit/64-bit)
Windows 10 (32-bit/64-bit)

I got the xf editor, but i couldnt get past having to set midi ports.
My MX49 didnt work with it.
After about an hour of trying different ways to export the classic MOTIF files to the XF editor, i gave up.

Thanks for trying to help me with this.
I guess i will keep checking this subject, and hope someone provides the STRUMS voice info.

The XF Editor won’t work with the MX, but for your purposes it doesn’t have to. You don’t have to set the MIDI ports. Using the same version of the Editor I provided a link to, with no Motif connected, I was able to open the file and look at the “Strums” Parameters.

After about an hour of trying different ways to export the classic MOTIF files to the XF editor, i gave up.

Please try again. Here’s a step-by-step procedure that should get you there:

1) Start the XF Editor in standalone mode.
2) At the menu bar at the top left, click on File, then Open.... A “Choose a document to load” window will open.
3) In that window, for Files of Type:, in the drop-down menu select MOTIF XF All Files (*X3A). Navigate to where you have the unzipped ClassicMotifVoices.n3.X3A file, click and open it. When a “Song select” window opens, just click “OK”.
4) A window for setting the ports will open. It can be ignored. Close it by clicking the [X] at the top left. The main screen should reappear. (Song data, which can also be ignored, will be displayed.)
5) Near the top left will be “[]Voice []Song []Pattern”. Click []Voice.
6) The Voice Name shown in the “V” row will be “Full Concert Grand”.
To select “Strums” instead…
a) Click on “Full Concert Grand”.
b) A “VOICE LIBRARY []Category []Bank” window will appear. Click []Bank.
c) Scroll down to Normal User 1, and double-click it. The Voices in that Bank will be listed.
d) Scroll down to Strums 84 (F-04). Double-clicking will select it and close the VOICE LIBRARY window.
7) At the right side, click [C] to see the Voice’s Common Parameters. For Elements, click [1], [2], or [3].
8) Parameters are grouped in several displays. Click “Oscillator/Pitch”, “Filter”, etc, as desired.
