Hello, Friends.

I’m on a gen 1 Motif 6 and I’m running firmware 1.7 and I want to update to 1.9.

(He says as he scrounges the internet for a Smartmedia reader… )

I’m on a Mac and downloaded the 1.9 Mac package and all I got was an “hqx” file, not a zip file.

Is the “hqx” file the firmware file I’d need to upload to the Motif or should I upload the “PGM” firmware file that’s included in the Windows 1.9 download package?

All info appreciated, thank you.

Welcome to the forum.

A Mac should be able to recognize and open an HQX file. However, it doesn’t matter how you obtain the PGM file - either from the HQX or the ZIP.

Perfect, thank you.

That “hqx” file actually downloads with a “txt” suffix.  Even when I edit it to “hqx” and open it, it then converts it to an “sea” and my Mac can’t open that either.  Even tried the StuffIt Expander, didn’t work.  It’s all a dead loop.  I think the “sea” file type is just too old for my computer at this point.

But I’ve got the “PGM” from the other download so I should be just fine.

Thanks for the info!

You’re welcome.

By the way, for anyone else looking for the OS update, the ZIP file is here on Motifator:
