Viewing topic "How do you switch sounds during a live with MOTIF XS/XF?"

By switching sounds I mean to change the voices and their combination and keyboard range and other settings. Besides, I mean only use a MOTIF XS/XF synthesizer with no other racks or keyboards.

Do you use the performance mode? If you do, does the sound break when you switch to the next performance memory block? Is it possible to program the order of sound switching and use a foot switch to free your hands? If you don’t, how do you implement sound switching?

If you need to play a background MIDI sequence (not audio) when you perform, how do you switch sounds?

My application paradigm of MOTIF XS is like this: I want to store some sequences (songs) in the keyboard, and for each song, I play some channels while the sequence is playing back. When I turn to the master mode, it seems that every master memory unit can be related to a song (or pattern, or performance, or voice), and can set the combination of voices on the keyboard. HOWEVER, I cannot dynamic change the keyboard ranges and channel maps when I perform, let alone using a foot pedal/switch. Is there any cure?

Thanks for your heads up.

What I didn’t get so far is how I can split/layer sounds on one midi channel…

Two or more Parts can be assigned to the same Receive Channel.
Splits are accomplished via Note Limit settings for each Part.

Thanks a lot. I got this.

In addition, seems the note limit settings can be dynamically changed with midi events, according to the data list. I’ll try if I could control the performance in song mode as I will and report later on.
